about

Beauty simply for the sake of beauty- despite never recieving a formal or traditional education in photography, there is something about Cecil Beaton’s work that draws you in and holds your attention for longer than you thought it could. Whimsical, gaudy and dramatic, Beaton’s work is consistient across all mediums in style and flair. Working in fashion photography, war photography, theatrical and ballet design as well as fashion illustration throughout the course of his 60 year career, Beaton became a quiet but everpresent force in American and British fashion, theater and movie history. Acting as an unofficial portrait photographer for the British Royal family and working with almost all of the biggest names in hollywood throughout his career, Beaton has become a tragically forgotten facet of design history. Prioritizing beauty above all else, Beaton created some of the most iconic photos of the 19th century before passing away in 1980 at the age of 79.
